It's Still 2007- Happy New Years!

Lumos-Light Staff Posted by Lumos-Light Staff at 11:59 PM on December 31, 2007 Comments comments (1)

What a year it has been!  We've been through quite a lot, but one year ago we were all scrambling around trying to pick up clues on the just announced book title, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows."  It may of been tonight, last year, that you read the most far fetched theory, or it could have been a year ago tonight someone predicted how much Snape really did love Lily.  No matter what you read or heard last year on this night, there's no doubt that this year has been amazing and pretty much topped all other years when it comes down to Harry Potter.

The Order of the Phoenix Teaser Trailer was released November 17th in front of Happy Feet. We all went to see the movie just to see about 30 seconds of flashes of light and then the Harry Potter logo.

As that happened, theories were bubbling all around the web creating questions and new rumors.  Popular theories were Mrs. Weasley being Hermione from the future, Snape loving Lily, Kreacher drinking the potion in the cave, Fawkes having a horcrux, the Time-Turner theory in which Harry goes back in time and accepts his parents deaths, there are so many, and some we say now looking back, "Woah!" or "If I just thought one step forward", and some you say, "What the heck was I thinking?!"

We got our first real trailer of Order of the Phoenix April 22, and it amazed and shocked us all.  We could not wait for July 13th, the day the movie was scheduled to be released.

As movie news rolled along and pictures spilled out from Warner Brothers, we all held our breath as we got Cover Art, and news of factories printing the books in the dark, and walking in candlelight.

But then on July 21st, the countdown has ended all over the world. Not only were the lines and lines of people moving forward to the seven hundred and eighty four paged book, but Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was becoming the fastest selling book in history.  Many fans finished the book on July 21st its self, after boxes of tissue and endless empty coffee mugs, we all knew the truth.  We all learned the answers we had been speculating for years.

And now here we are, standing still strong, still named the Harry Potter Fandom.  Many people said that 2007 is the end of the fandom and Harry Potter.  Some fansites are slowing down but we promise that Lumos-Light will continue to stay strong, or at least until we die that is.

The Harry Potter Fandom has lived through it all, and here we are as the clock is counting down for January 1st of 2008.  Look at the journey we've made.  Look at the journey we made with Harry.

JK Rowling has updated her site with a small update, opening her door for all of us to see!  She has updated with a family tree featuring the Weasley family, including other branches like Luna and Draco.  As mentioned on the most recent Pottercast Interview with Jo, it was revealed that Draco marries sister of Daphne Greengrass, Astoria Greengrass.  Other things that are revealed are George's spouse, George's children, Bill and Fluer's children, Luna's children, and the middle names of Harry and Ginny's kids.

Check all of it out here, and click the eraser that leads to the Room of Requirement, which leads to the spoiler family tree Jo drew as part of her documentary, "A Year in the Life with JK Rowling", airing in the UK, December 15th.

Lumos-Light Presents Our Holiday Treat 2007

Lumos-Light Staff Posted by Lumos-Light Staff at 08:10 AM on December 22, 2007 Comments comments (0)

We really really tried to get these out by Christmas and the holidays, and we did!  Recently we've been working really, really, really hard to produce these three sections.  It's pretty much all we at Lumos-Light have been doing for the past two weeks.  We hoped it be a little Pre-Christmas treat.  We've removed the page that was once the, "Fan Corner".  As you might remember, the Fan Corner had just a lot of stuff pushed together.  Polls, FanFic, FanArt, Ratings, Chat, and pretty much just a lot of everything crammed into one page.

We're really really thrilled to introduce these three new pages and we hope you enjoy them.  The new sections include are The Movies Section, The Books Section, and All About JK Rowling Section.  The section includes all six movies, all seven books, and a interview box with JK Rowling, featuring all types of the various interviews she's done dating back to 1997.

We also tried to make the sections fun.  In the movies section, we based our navigation to each movie by Crystal Balls such as used in Prisoner of Azkaban.  For the Books Section, we used the brick wall entrance to navigate to each book, seriously check it out!

Enjoy, and obviously you can check out the new pages in the menu bar but also below.

Merry and Happy Holidays to what ever holiday you celebrate!

JK Rowling Updates Fan Site Award and News

Lumos-Light Staff Posted by Lumos-Light Staff at 07:47 PM on December 21, 2007 Comments comments (0)

"Long overdue, I give you the HP Alliance (as mentioned in Time Magazine!) I am honoured and humbled that Harry's name has been given to such an extraordinary campaign, which really does exemplify the values for which Dumbledore's Army fought in the books. To Andrew and all the others who work on this most inspirational website: the world needs more people like you."

Those words are hidden beneath the scroll in JK Rowling's Fan Site Award Page.  The Harry Potter alliance is a great group who help raise awareness of genocide and the hate this world is contained in today.  The Harry Potter Alliance helps spread the message of love and great morals using the Harry Potter books!  You can check out this very cool alliance here, and see Jo's award to the site by clicking  here

In other JK Rowling Site News, Jo updated her FAQ Section with, "Why the 'Scottish Book'?".  If you listened to Leaky's Podcast, Pottercast 130: The One with JK Rowling, you will remember that when mentioned the Encyclopaedia, she called it the "Scottish Book". Check that out here.  Jo also has updated with a wonderful news entry on the Auction of 'the Tales of Beedle the Bard, which Amazon bought earlier this week.  Check that news entry out here.

Jo Rowling Named One of MSN's Most Influential Women of 2007

Lumos-Light Staff Posted by Lumos-Light Staff at 07:42 PM on December 20, 2007 Comments comments (0)

JK Rowling has been named one of the most influential women of 2007.  Congrats Jo!  MSN says:

"This bittersweet year marks the last time anyone will be able to enjoy that most delicious of treats: a new Harry Potter novel. Rowling's wizarding world has not so much influenced modern culture as grown roots deep into the heart of it. From new words (muggles) to new drinks (some fools make their own butterbeer from Michelob Light and butterscotch Schnapps) to a new generation of kids who (gasp) read for pleasure, Rowling's epic fantasy series has made a lasting impact on, well, just about all of us. Her revelation this fall that beloved Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore is gay created a stir among fans that was mostly applauded. Whatever project Rowling has in store next promises to be a hot seller, if not a future big-screen blockbuster."

You can read more about this here and obviously anyone who has not added Jo to any most influential list has had a mind modifying jinx put onto them.  She has effected us all so much and to win another award such as this is quite amazing.  Again, you deserve it Jo!
