LeakyCon 2009 will bring friends together from around the world for fun, fellowship, and an opportunity to practice the greatest lessons of Harry Potter: bravery, nobility, acceptance, and above all, love.  Like any good Potions Master, we are remixing the traditional fan conference using the following essential ingredients:  More interactive programming, including innovative Youth Programming. In the Leaky tradition, all proceeds to go to charity!  Book Aid International and the Harry Potter Alliance.  Fun, fun, fun! After all, isn't going to a conference all about celebrating Harry?   In sum, we are hosting a conference that will feel more like a party! We want to invite as many people as possible to enjoy themselves in Harry's world, and we want to do it for a great cause. With the most trusted name in Potter News at the helm, how can we go wrong?

On June 26, 1997, Harry Potter took the first step in his journey –
and brought along millions of enthusiasts who not only traveled with
him, but discovered paths of their own, to friendship, to magic, and
to imagination. On August 7-11, 2008, Terminus, a Harry Potter
conference, will encompass not only the journey of J. K. Rowling's
seven fantastic books, but the individual journeys of those who read
them. Terminus invites everyone who has ever analyzed a character,
dissected a plotline or constructed an argument to five days of
immersion in Harry Potter. We will discuss and debate J. K. Rowling's
words and ideas. We will unravel the mysteries of the finished story
and draw parallels to other works. We will reminisce, and celebrate
the series that changed our lives. And for five days in Chicago, we
will be one academic and fan community gathered together from a
thousand different paths to explore the series that we have in common.

Brought to you by the same people who made Accio 2005 come true: Accio 2008 will bring together academics and adult fans to discuss the Harry Potter series in the Hogwarts-like setting of the University of Oxford. The conference will be held at the beautiful Magdalen College, which still preserves its 15th century pronunciation of 'Maudele'n' and which boasts such alumni as C.S. Lewis and Oscar Wilde.
