Matthew Lewis on OOTP

http://homedir-b.libsyn.com/podcasts/pottercast/images/pottercastart-1.jpg

Our Friends from PotterCast and Leaky just interviewed Matt Lewis, Neville Longbottom in the Potter Films 1-4 and filming for 5.

In the interview, Matt talked about Neville in movie 5, and how filming is going "excellent".

"It almost comes off as a different character this year.... He's not the Neville that we all know. He starts off that way then rapidly changes throughout the film. It's been a lot of fun. Definitely a change, but definitely a welcome one."

The actor also talked about Imelda Staunton, who portrays Dolores Umbridge in this fith film:

"She [as Umbridge] is the nastiest person you'll ever meet, on the film. She's just cruel and twisted and slightly mental.... You can see she's plotting something. She's plotting how she's going to kill you, later on, when your back is turned."

For full coverage, visit Pottercast.com so you can listen to Matt talk about Potter and more!  Download Pottercast Number 51, 52, 53, and 54 to hear Matt speak about the Potterfilms!

Dan talks about Equus

http://www.huntington.edu/theatre/gallery/2001_2002prod/equus/equus.jpg

Daniel Radcliffe gave an interview recently about the play, Equus, in which he will be playing the title role.  Equus  is a very serious, straight drama (for those of you not familiar with acting terms, "straight drama" or "straight play" refers to a show that is not a musical) with a complicated story many have enjoyed.  Many Harry Potter sites, including ours, have recently had headlines reporting: “Star of Harry Potter Films to Appear NAKED!”  Dan has responded to this by saying,

"All the other actors who have ever played the part have done that [naked], so for me not to do it wouldn't really be playing the part . . . It would be a watered down version. It wouldn't be the same.  I'll be incredibly nervous, but it's in the script; it's got to be done. I'm terrified, but excited."

Thanks to DanRadcliffe.co.uk for this new information!

Harry Potter and the High Def.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire has been confirmed to come out on HIGH DEFINITION on August 29th, 2006.  The DvD will feature a new menu and a few extra touches to the movie.  The second task (underwater) has been pixelated specifically for the High Def.  It should really "make you feel cold and that you are underwater and you can't hold your breath," as a WB spokesman said yesterday.  The second task isn't the ONLY part of the movie to recieve a bump of improvement, however!  Changes have also been made to the third task (maze), and the Yule Ball, as well as other scenes.  You'll be able to check it all out on August 29th, 2006!

GOF wins B1 Media Award!

Product Image

Congrats to the makers of the Goblet of Fire Harry Potter DVD who won a number of DVD awards from B1 Media, including Best Menu Design!  This is what John Pohl, one of the DVD's creators, had to say:  "We're honored that this award recognized the elaborate and expressive 3D achievement and strong sense of design the menus displayed. The artistic excellence of these menus contributed to an incredible DVD experience and was a result of the sacrifice that our 3D, compositing, animation and design teams made."   Congrats to everyone who was a part of this!

Okay... Who's Messing with Us?

Here's a secret of life:  If you don't touch something that's not your's, don't touch it at all.  On Monday, August 7th at 2:53 AM somebody glitched us!  David had just started paying for Google-Ads.  When somebody erased the files for the ads, we lost money.  Somebody also used up all of our feedback forms saying, "hi wazzup?" in each feedback.  These forms cost money!  Thanks to David for buying Lumos-Light 21 more feedbacks!  Please don't mess or we will have to close up the site that we have worked so hard on!

Harry Potter Secrets Revealed!

In a National Geographic Issue, a small blurb was talking about Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.  A small circle has caught the eyes of some smart Potter fans!  Lumos-Light has the quote from the issue:

"More HP (Harry Potter) Secrets REVEALED!  JK Rowling is working on her seventh-and maybe an eighth---Harry Potter book.  After Insisting that she would only write seven books---one for each year Harry spends at Hogwarts--- Rowling may write a new book featuring scenes that were cut from earlier volumes. No matter what, Harry is sure to live forever."

An 8th Potter book?  Another year at Hogwarts?  We are trying to figure this out with NG and we'll keep you tuned!  Thanks to Hope for the pic!

Is Mr. Ollivander or other minor's the next to go?

http://www.encyclopedie-hp.org/images/films/ollivander.jpg

With only one book left in the Harry Potter series, there is quite a bit of speculation as to who will survive a potential final battle.  A local news station in Arizona believes that JK Rowling MIGHT kill off some of the minor characters from Book 1.  Some of the names on this list include the goblins at Gringots (the wizarding bank) or Mr. Ollivander, owner of the wand shop in Diagon Alley bearing his name.  The station also speculates that the final chapter of the final book will be "The Boy who Lived", which would mirror the first chapter title in the series.  This brings out a brand new question--could Harry live and still be, "The boy who lived?"  No one but JK Rowling knows, but as soon as we get more information from her, we will be sure to update you!

JK Rowling.com Updates with a new Link!

JK Rowling has updated her Links page on her official site so we can all check out The Children's Voice.  Quoted from JK Rowling's Official Site:

"The Children’s Voice campaign wants to make life better for young people in care; across Eastern Europe and ultimately across the whole of the modern world.

The campaign is run by The Children’s High Level Group (CHLG), and aims to stamp out cruelty, neglect and abuse of young people. Many of these children are forced to live in cramped, unhygienic and basic accommodation. Violence and bullying is a common occurrence and there are many cases of children being chained and caged. These are the sort of practices that we want to bring to an end, so that no child in the 21st century ever has to endure such appalling conditions again.

The CHLG also highlights the positive changes in child welfare that are beginning to take root in these countries, and are helping transform the lives of hundreds of thousands of children. CHLG's hope is that this will create a momentum for change across the whole of Europe.

The Children’s High Level Group (CHLG) is a charity whose mission is to improve the well-being, health and protection of vulnerable children and was founded by, amongst others, MEP Emma Nicholson and myself in 2005, when we were very deeply moved by the poverty, sickness and maltreatment of children and decided to act."

It's Great that JK Rowling works with this kind of stuff and if you want to find more about it, click here.

JK Rowling Recap from New York City!

http://www.rainews24.it/ran24/immagini/roaling_joanne.jpg

Lumos-Light is here with your magical needs... we have a re-cap of the reading JK Rowling gave today.  One of the things she talked about was Dumbledore's Death:  He's DEAD.  JK Rowling then talks about Mrs. Dursley and the how that gleam of sorrow to Harry was no mistake.  We also learn JK Rowling found a more likeable title to book 7 for herself.  She did not give out the title though.  We learned alot about Hagrid and how he or Dumbledore where going to die in book 6 and how book 7 is getting longer then Goblet of Fire!

JK Rowling comes to New York City!

Click to view full size image

A reading was held today at Radio City Music Hall in new York City with three of the world's most popular writers:  John Irving, Stephen King, and of course, our own beloved JK Rowling!  Rowling read the scene in Half-Blood Prince where Dumbledore meets Tom Riddle in the orphanage and then held a quick Q & A to answer a few fans' questions.  During this session, Rowling informed us that Mr. Ollivaders saying in book 1, "It is the wand that chooses the wizard- not the wizard who chooses the wand" will be a theme in book 7.  Another question asked by a fan was "What would Hermione see in the Mirror of Erisid?"  Rowling's answer?-- "Herimone would see in the Mirror of Erised herself closely entwined with a certain person whose identity you can probably guess, Harry and Ron living, AND Voldemort gone."

JK Rowling.com Updates

JK Rowling has updated her webstie!  Firstly, she has updated with a new Wizard/Witch of the month.  Erica Stainwright (1932-2001) - Disgraced 1950s house keeping guru who made a fortune selling 'cleaning'potions that really generated more mould and grime.

Click on the "Rubbish Bin" portkey (a pencil sharpener on her desk).  A small note has been added saying, "Happy Birthday JK Rowling!" in honor of her birthday yesterday.  That's not all.  We, with the help of a few emails, also spotted at 10:23 AM Eastern Time, August 1st, a small sign in the corner that looked identical to the one on the Room of Requirement door.  The sign is now off of the door but it might come back!

Reader Jason has given us a screenshot.  Lumos-Light has high-lighted both updates with a red box.  Thanks to everyone who emailed us and to Jason for the screenshot!  Also thanks to John-Robert and Nora from Lumos-Light for adding the highlight boxes to the picture.

Harry Potter 5 for Lego

Lego Creator Harry Potter Screen Shot
Harry Potter has recently been popular with the Lego Toys.  A Lego Builder recently gave a video interveiw to Warner Brothers to talk about the new Harry Potter Legos to be released in May 2007.  Less than a year from retail release, the builder gave us a look into the designing process and mentioned a few of the new pieces to be released:
  • A trap door in Umbridge's Office set to be released
  • A Ministy of Magic set to be released--he also talks about how the "pole peice" will be used.  We have seen a picture of a set containing poles.  Could this be what he is speaking of?
  • The mini-figs and how they are costing more money then planned
  • A new Dumbledore Body is talked about.  He talks on Dumbledores new robes for Movie 5 as Jo Rowling said.
  • He talks about a new online-video of a tour inside a new Hogwarts
What does this mean?  We will bring more news about this article as soon as possible!

Shyamalan talks about Directing Harry Potter

Category:  6th Film

http://images.ctv.ca/archives/CTVNews/img2/20060718/160X_lady_water_060718.jpg

     Shyamalan

Before our big move from blog to website, writer and director M. Night Shyamalan told ComingSoon.net that he was looking at the possible idea of directing Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and/or Harry Potter and the Unknown 7th.

In another interview with Melissa Anelli on PotterCast (a Harry Potter podcast put on by the wonderful people at the-leaky-cauldron.org), Shyamalan talks about the themes of Harry Potter:

"The themes that run through it...the empowering of children, a positive outlook...you name it, it falls in line with my beliefs," he said. "I enjoy the humor in it. When I read the first Harry Potter and was thinking about making it, I had a whole different vibe in my head of it. [There would be] a lot at stake emotionally. The teaching of magic would be desperately needed, there would be a lot riding on it."
